Know The Difference: Lazy Keto and Dirty Keto

Lazy keto is also called dirty keto. When I heard about this diet, I thought it would be the same as the traditional ones. But this diet is best for people like me because it allows you to consume high fats with low carbs. I loved the idea because you don’t need to follow strict food patterns that include only a small amount of protein.

Don’t let the name trick you; the dirty keto diet is not so dirty, and also restricts your carbs intake, just like other versions of the ketogenic diet. You can usually consume 5 to 10% carbs in your daily calories or around 20 to 50 grams of carbs each day.
Lazy people (just like me) love this diet because it does not require them to keep an eye on their daily calories, like fats and protein intake in this lazy version. Now you may understand why it’s called “lazy.”

Why People Follow This Diet?

The name lazy is an answer. This diet offers convenience; it works for you more than you would. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t like to see results without putting much effort?

Many beginners on the keto diet find it challenging to adhere to a strict and formulated diet. They often don’t have proper guidance, so it isn’t easy to do meal planning and cooking.

While a dirty diet makes your life easy, you can eat low-carb by going to a fantastic local fast food restaurant and choosing a mouth-watering bun-less burger. You can also go to your favorite store and pick some processed meats and packaged foods instead of making a healthy steak with veggies serving.

This means the keto diet allows you to enjoy every flavor and different cuisines. You don’t need to spend months without eating your favorite snacks, such as pizza or burgers. (I am craving for a hot, sizzling pizza now!)

Lazy keto and Weight Loss

When you are on a dirty diet, even consuming unhealthy foods, you are still in ketosis. No matter what version of keto you are following, the goal is to restrict the carbs so that your body starts using ketones for energy. It means you can lose weight on lazy keto while eating your favorite food, but it doesn’t let you eat pasta, chips, and candies throughout the day.

On a dirty diet, you need to consume less than your body burns. This is why your body loses weight by consuming less food.

Downsides of Dirty Diet

Dirty keto can help you lose weight, but is it not healthy for you (truth is always bitter!). Many inflammatory markers increase in the body if a person on this diet takes a considerable amount of packaged food and veggie oils, which can be harmful in the long term.

Not to mention, the food you are enjoying on the lazy diet might seem tasty but don’t contain essential nutrients. It means your favorite burger is only satisfying your taste buds but not giving you the vitamins and minerals that your body craves for or requires.

The dirty keto can have the following adverse effects on your body.

  • Dehydration
  • Keto flu symptoms
  • Weight gain after the diet
  • Inflammation
  • Sugar cravings
  • Bloating
  • Skin blemishes

Bottom Line

Lazy keto is a keto diet version, but it’s not a great way to lose weight. It is because you can develop a deficiency of minerals and vitamins, which can lead to many health problems. So, it’s better to avoid the dirty diet and follow the clean keto diet to lose extra pounds and remain healthy.
